Vitamin A is the name given to a group of fat-soluble retinoids which include retinal, retinol, and retinyl esters. Vitamin A is mostly popular in improving and maintaining healthy vision. However, it is involved in various body processes, such as cellular interaction and reproduction. There are two types of Vitamin A - preformed Vitamin A and provitamin A. Preformed Vitamin A includes retinol and retinyl ester found in meat and other animal products. Provitamin A carotenoids include beta carotene found in plants.

Benefits of Vitamin A: Provitamin A carotenoids play an important role in preventing muscular degeneration, an age-related eye disease, and promotes healthy eyesight. The immune system has certain functions, such as fighting cancer and cold viruses, which require substantial amounts of Vitamin A. Beta-carotene does not just maintain healthy eyesight but it also boosts the immune system and prevents chronic illnesses. Vitamin A is a known antioxidant which prevents inflammation and neutralizes free radicals in the body. Vitamin A also promotes healthy skin and cell growth.
